Days Gone may not arrive in 2017

Sony Studio Bend finally revealed their much anticipated playstation 4 title during Sony’s E3 2016 press conference. With rumours abound the game would be titled”Dead don’t ride” thanks to trademarking leaks it was a pleasant surprise to see the game revealed with a new title “Days Gone”. The game coming exclusively to Playstation 4 was showcased with in two separate stages during the E3 Sony press conference with both a trailer and a gameplay demo. So gameplay demo would indicate a release is soon right?

Well “we would be wrong to assume a 2017 release date” according the games developers. This information that comes by rumblings from the games closed doors E3 demos indicates that the game is somewhat further away than we first believed it to be. Now this isn’t anything abnormal for games being showcased at E3 and more so for ones that appear on Sony’s E3 stage but Sony Bend has been in development since Golden Abyss was launched on the Playstation Vita. A game released in 2011.

Now its important to clarify that some of the rationale behind this decision could be as a result of the rumoured failed development projects Sony Bend was involved in over the past five years. That could well be a great reason but for me it begs a bigger question why do Sony studios management continue to let this happen?

For the conspiracy theorists among us it screams of PS4K release material. Im also of the opinion that the odd arrangement of the gameplay demo was as a result of a last minute pullout from E3 of the PS4K. I imagine the demo was meant to be positioned as a taste of what that console can deliver graphically. Show a bit of the new console and some details announce its coming late 2017 and then heres what one of our games currently in development on it looks like. However speculate we will we wont ever know.
