Sea of Thieves PC System Requirements Revealed

The minimum requirements will shiver your timbers.

Microsoft and Rare have released the PC system requirements for the upcoming Sea of Thieves, ranging from the “Mythical” 4K 60 FPS all the way down to the “Cursed” 540p 30 FPS.

“[Sea of Thieves is] designed to support a wide range of PC setups and ensure many gamers are able to enjoy the game” the developer said in a press release.

Check out six different sets of specs, and how well they can output your game, in the chart below (click to enlarge):

Rare has previously said it was aiming to get its necessary specs as low as possible, while still offering an “ultra” experience for high-end PCs, and the range of the specs bears that out.

With a below-HD 540p option alongside the expected 4K 60 FPS, Rare’s demonstrating its support for a potential player base – and the art style of the game should lend itself to both ends of the spectrum.

Rare has also revealed that microtransactions will be coming to the game three months after launch, telling IGN that they will “add to the fun, social nature of the game” and won’t “impact power or progression.”

Lead designer Mike Chapman confirmed that player crew size will be limited to four – the “magic number” – and has also explained how the servers have been designed to have player ships encounter one another every 15 minutes to half an hour.

If you want to know more about Sea of Thieves before its release on March 20, you can check out exactly what it is you’re trying to achieve in the game, and peruse the range of pre-order bonuses available.
