MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries Gets a New Release Date

Mech fans will have to wait through most of 2019 for this newest entry.

Piranha Games President Russ Bullock announced during MechCon that MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries will now be released on Sept. 10, 2019, reports PC Gamer.

MechWarrior 5 was originally scheduled to be released this month, but Piranha delayed it to sometime in 2019 so that it could “deliver the best single-player MechWarrior experience to date.” Mercenaries is the first MechWarrior game to have a single-player mode since 2002.

According to PC Gamer’s report, Piranha has been using much of its development time to improve Mercenaries’ graphics and AI.

Originally announced in 2016, MechWarrior 5 puts players in “the role of a rookie MechWarrior pilot thrust into combat as the Third Succession War continues to fracture the Inner Sphere.”

IGN last got a look at MechWarrior 5 in April and wrote about its massive explosions. In December 2017, IGN went hands-on with Mercenaries and found it played like some kind of mix of an FPS and a flight sim.
