From a new Overwatch hero to a new Diablo game, a Warcraft 3 remaster, and more.
Blizzard kicked off BlizzCon 2018 with a packed Opening Ceremony, showing off brand new characters, expansions, cinematics, and more.
Here’s a look at all the big news we got for Overwatch, Heroes of the Storm, Hearthstone, Warcraft 3, and more.
Overwatch Gets a New Hero and Animated Short
Overwatch has a new hero! Ashe is a former associate of McCree and has a lot of tricks up her sleeve.
But before we saw her in her own reveal trailer, we met Ashe in Reunion, a brand new animated short featuring McCree and a few other members of the Deadlock Gang.
Ashe uses fellow Deadlock Gang member B.O.B. as her ultimate attack, and Blizzard teased some exciting new skins coming down the road.
Warcraft 3 Reforged Is a New Remaster
At long last, Warcraft 3 is getting a remaster!
Warcraft 3: Reforged is a remaster of the 2002 original and is coming in 2019. It will also include The Frozen Throne expansion.
Reforged is a “complete reimagining” and will include 62 missions and over 40 hours of gameplay.
Cutscenes have also been remade – over four hours of them – to look better than ever.
The first campaign, The Culling, will also be playable for BlizzCon attendees.
Diablo Immortal Is a Brand New Game…for Mobile
To close the show, Blizzard revealed a brand new Diablo action RPG.
Called Diablo Immortal, the new game is exclusively coming to mobile devices. It features six classes as well as new abilities, enemies, and zones entirely new to the Diablo series.
The events of Diablo Immortal are set after the events of Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction and before Diablo 3.
Battle for Azeroth’s New Cinematic
As you’d expect from any BlizzCon, World of Warcraft got a brand new cinematic.
The new video focused on Varok Saurfang and is titled Lost Honor.
Heroes of the Storm’s First Completely New Hero
Overwatch wasn’t the only game with new characters to show off! Heroes of the Storm got its very first Nexus hero, Orphea!
Orphea is the first hero in the long-running crossover MMO to be completely new, not from any previous Blizzard franchise.
Blizzard showed off Orphea’s skills and everything she can do, in a developer-guided overview video.
People at BlizzCon will receive Orphea for free, and have a chance to try her out at the show.
Beyond Orphea, Blizzard also teased a slew of new content coming to Heroes of the Storm.
A sizzle reel showed off new updates, mounts, skins, and more that will head to Heroes of the Storm in the coming weeks and into 2019.
Hearthstone’s New Expansion
Blizzard showed off the newest expansion for Hearthstone, Rastakhan’s Rumble.
Rastakhan’s Rumble will add 135 new cards, all of which are Troll-themed.
For those who preorder, a bundle will offer 50 packs, a card back, and a hero portrait of King Rastakhan.
Overwatch’s Lucio-Oh’s Cereal Is Real
Shortly before the Opening Ceremony began, Blizzard announced the news we were all waiting for: the long-rumored Overwatch cereal is officially coming from Kellogg’s!
Destiny 2 Free for PC Players
It may seem weird to see Destiny 2 on this list, but in the moments before the Opening Ceremony kicked off, Bungie announced that PC players can get the Destiny 2 for free this month.
On Battle.net, Destiny 2 is a “Free Gift” from today until November 18, and anyone who redeems it during that period will get to keep it forever.
WoW Classic Release Window and a New Pet
Aside from the Lost Honor cinematic, Warcraft fans also got some news.
The long-awaited World of Warcraft Classic is still coming, and will officially be available in summer 2019. A demo is playable on the BlizzCon show floor, or for anyone at home who purchased a Virtual Ticket.
Blizzard also revealed a new baby yeti pet named Whomper, which is coming to the in-game shop. If you purchase it before the end of the year, all proceeds will be donated to Code.org.
A New Co-Op Commander for Starcraft II
Starcraft only got a brief mention during the Opening Ceremony, but Blizzard published a trailer the newest co-op commander, Zeratul!
More details about Zeratul and Starcraft are expected to come throughout the rest of the weekend.
Andrew is IGN’s executive editor of news and wishes we had seen more of Whomper. You can find him rambling about Persona and cute animals on Twitter.
